Papatoetoe East Primary School New Website

On Monday we had released our new school website. We thought we could make our website more interesting and we have even got a new face book page. Kids can look at the page with their teachers and parents but we can't be active on it unless we are 13 and over. But do ask your parents to check it out so you could check it out too. We have got a digital citizen form that you and your parents should read and sign to promise to be a good DIGITAL CITIZEN.

Thank you Mr Van Wijk -  Mrs Van Wijks son, Mrs Clark, Mrs Crawford, and Mrs Capstick.

3 Climbers Die on Mountain Everest

There were 3 people who attempted to climb the highest mountain in the world. The place was called Mount Everest. The 3 people that climbed the mountain died because they got altitude sickness. That was so sad but they still gave it their best shot to climb the highest mountain. In my opinion I believe that they had confidence and courage but it is sad that they died.

NZ Voted Best Country 3rd time in a Row!!

nz

BE PROUD KIWIS because we were voted 1ST BEST COUNTRY!!!

About 90,000 people voted around the world!
for their favorite destinations giving New Zealand the Best Country Tittle!

The runners up are South Africa and Maldives. But Capetown was voted best town and
Denmark was voted happiest.

Prime Minister, John Key, said that he believes New Zealand’s tourism success is due to our country living up to the hype, providing tourists with an experience “that is better than the brochure.”

Around $600 million has been invested by the Government in New Zealand’s tourism and promotion since 2008.
This is the 3rd year in a row that NZ has won the Best Country title and the head of Telegraph Travel believes it is because New Zealand offers almost everything travellers want.
NZ may be small, but I guess this proves that great things really do come in small packages!!
I think this is interesting to know because its good to know New Zealand won something.

Car Vending Machine

carvana

WOW now you may think this is really too good to be true... but it isn't as if this is a real thing!!
Vending machines now have chocolates, drinks, first aid kits, and now CARS!!?? you must be thinking WHAT!!!?? but it's true.

An online auto sales company has been working on creating this vending machine since 2013.   The 5 storey glass machine has now opened in Nashville, Tennessee (USA)
Costumers get given a special coin, and when the costumer inserts                                                   the coin they just watch there brand new car coming down.

I think this is interesting to read because you can get chocolate out of a vending machine but not a CAR!!

14 Year Old Boy Turns Down $44 million!!!

boygenius

Taylor Rosenthal is a budding Bill Gates. The 14-year-old’s start-up company is already so popular, he’s turned down a $44 million offer!!!

Taylor from Alabama is the creator of RecMed, a vending machine that dispenses first aid products.
The company, which he launched in 2014, started as a year eight project when the straight-A student was taking part in a Young Entrepreneurs Academy class.
“We had to come up with a business idea,” he said.
“Every time I’d travel for a baseball tournament in Alabama, I’d notice that kids would get hurt and parents couldn’t find a band-aid. I wanted to solve that.”
The idea evolved into a vending machine.
I think a lot of people may find it odd to say no to $44 million but I think Taylor is doing the right decision to develop his skills with BILL GATES!!!

Archaeologists Discover Endeavour

Cookendeavour

Famous archaeologists from America have discovered the last remains of the ship that Captain James Cook sailed as the first person to chart New Zealand in 1770. Researchers say that they may have come across the ship wreck of the HMS Endeavour off the coast of Rhode Island. The ship was last seen in 1778 when it was being used as a transport vessel during the American Revolution. It also had a new name - Lord Sandwich.

The Endeavour was a bark - a three masted sailing ship. The Rhode Island marine archaeology project RIMAP0 says the Endeavour was one of 13 ships sunk in Newport Harbour in1778. Archaeologist will now carry out further investigations of the vessels structure and it's related artifacts.
