North Island Flood Alert

Kiwi Kids News

Alert!

There was a terrible flooding that affected the North Island at night. The cause of this problem was the heavy rain that was there a few weeks ago. Emergency evacuation centres had to be set up at the Coromandel (because it was really bad). Water waste and water supplies have been affected. They are trying to save water by not flushing toilets (if they can't help it) in Tairua, Pauanui, Onemana and Whangamata.

The Kaka is one of New Zealand's native creatures. Recently, the population of these birds have risen to 6 males per female! The South Island's Fiordland National Park has been helping to help raise this beautiful birds' population. It had to be risen because the population was low and near extinction because of stoats and possums. Two pest control companies called Waitutu SILNA and Nature Heritage Fund have donated 1.7 million dollars to support the pest controlling.

Welcome Mrs Prendergast

Welcome to Papatoetoe East School Mrs Prendergast.

All the students and staff members wish you the very best year here. We  promise, we won't let you leave because the staff and children love having you here and we don't want to scare you away from here! It's nice to know that your last school was in Clevedon and before that Hamilton. I know that you do lots of art and gardening in your spare time. You could make a gardening team of your own, that would be entertaining for you and the kids that join. It would also make our school more sustainable, which is what we want. It's a good thing you know what you want to do if you weren't a teacher. you would run your own garden business, and even better it's your own gardening maintenance business so it's free. Bye!
